Welcome to my final release of "Mitch's icons Pro", the coloured icons I've created in the last years.
Hystory & generals
At the beginning (about in 1994), they were only 10 poor, simple and dirty icons I made just to do something. Then, I tried to improve them and to create other ones. When I had a new idea, I tried to translate it on ResEdit. Sometimes, it took me many times and many ideas to finish an icon (you know, an artist never finishes his work at once...). Some other times, I decided to destroy an icon to draw a different one. I did it so many times... So, pixel after pixel, it came out from my Mac Performa 450 a nice work.
A big improvement came as I had the idea of how to create realistic views: just place similar types of colour degrees (f.e. reds or blues) one after the other to have a sense of DEPTH. Not bad, huh ?
Descriptions & notes
I ordered my icons on their function and meaning. F.e. in the "Stars icons" folder you'll find the 12 star sign icons. In the "Alternative icons" folder there are new cool system/applications icons that should be placed in stead of the old blaaah ones. Just copy and paste them.
Warning: don't modify the applications themselves with ResEdit: they could not work any more, and may cause problems!!!!!! Be sure you 're working with a copy of the apps. !!
Make backups for all important files in your HD !!
These icons are particularly indicated to the Industries who write softwares, such as Apple and Microsoft: these icons represent new ideas!
I've drawn all the icons in "ic18" 256 colours mode, so many of them will be bad, all dark displaied in smaller and B & W mode. In 16 colours mode, you can observe that the icons appereance isn't the same as in 256 col's mode. Sorry for those who still have a Mac Classic...
This is my first work on Macintosh, and I am proud of myself: I've worked hard, all alone, learning ResEdit functions. Some icons've been made with Photoshop 2.0.1. I am no pro and have no PPC !
In some cases you'll find a "/Double click !" after the icon's name: well, chaps, do it and you'll have a surprise...
The other folders contain funny icons, such as "Movie icons" or "Darkness icons": UFOs, ghosts and many other ancient mysteries. Since I adore them, please send me anything you can find about: your own experiences, photos and so on. Write in Italian, English, French or German. That's because I'm working since 1993 on a book about Parapsychology on the Mac. Thanks.
